This is not true. Russia has generally left its regimental and division headquarters in place on the front in the south, but has rotated companies and battalions from other regiments/brigades (including naval infantry and mobilized rifle units) to deal with attrition.

A helpful thread about one of the more confusing PMCs. I think one element that has confused people (including myself on some level) is the individual identity that different detachments of Redut have. Those detachments under this 'umbrella' can easily be seen as their own PMC.

I started working on Russian illicit networks in 2014, PMCs in 2016. Wagner played a central role in that work, which has meant about 5-6 years of following Prigozhin and Utkin. The world is better place without them, Wagner will change fundamentally, but PMCs aren’t going away.
