I keep looking at my broken door handle and the botched fix we've come up with. I can't help seeing it as a metaphor for how precarity is helping shore up the broken HE system. It functions, and it's cheap, but you're not fooling anyone that it's a long term solution. #ucuRISING

Just realised that because I'm not teaching any first years or first classes of the year this semester, I won't get to use any of the fun ice breakers I've been building up. And that sucks.

Some days, I love research. This is one of those days.

Precarious members can only feel empowered to take action when we have support like this from our permanent colleagues. Your branch is where the real support and solidarity is and I am extremely lucky to have landed in such a great one.

Went to a non-parent friend's last night and my god! They actually have nice houses, considered décor, evening activities and stimulating conversation in which you can finish a sentence. Mind blown.

This is what a supportive colleague looks like. If I ever make it to permanent I will be very happy to share the materials I've developed. It's hard work being temp, and stuff like this makes it a little bit easier and makes you feel seen. Thank you 🙌

Waiting for job application responses is actually worse than preparing the damn things in the first place. Just tell me so I can either start dreaming or move on!
