The Dagenham fire reminds us that the building safety crisis is unresolved. It is also a reminder of what happens when that state retreats from regulating the basics. Here it is housing. But we are seeing the fallout in our polluted water and creaking transport system too.

This community park was significantly reduced in size a few years ago due to Enfield Council's 'flagship' Meridian Water development, despite a lack of green space in the area. Now the council isn't maintaining it. We thought #MeridianWater was supposed to help local people

There will be a statement in the House of Commons at 1pm, as I understand. Let's hope its our new prime minister committing to bring those responsible to justice with the same gusto he shows for other criminals. We wouldn't want two tier policing now, would we.
