10 September 1624. Thomas Sydenham was born in Wynford Eagle, Dorset. He wrote, Observationes Medicae, the standard medical textbook. He became known as ‘The English Hippocrates’. One of his key achievements was to discover Sydenham’s Chorea, also known as St Vitus’ Dance.
