The proposed amendments are an attack on the judiciary & PTI/IK. First CJ of the new Federal Constitutional Court will be appointed by the president on the advice of the PM. The rest of the initial set of judges of will, in effect, be nominated by the CJ. Retirement age is 68.

It's a provision crafted for Faez Isa J. The Federal cabinet will send the reference for banning a political party to the Federal Constitutional Court. It is clear that the purpose sought to be immediately achieved is the banning of PTI through QFI and judges hand-picked by him.

I am told on very credible authority that the draft also contains an amendment to Ar 8 and other provisions to enable the trial of civilians before military courts. The clear purpose is to place Khan Sahib before a military tribunal.

Also, any judge of a High Court may be transferred to any other High Court as directed by the Judicial Commission. Such transferred judge will not be eligible to become the CJ of the High Court to which he is transferred.
