"Imagine what New York City could do with 500 million square feet of public space." We've got Second Ave. Sagas on @CurbedNY today arguing for getting rid of free street parking in NYC, and his first line is already a pretty good reason to do away with it!!! ny.curbed.com/2019/11/22/209…

Trump wants to blame China. But foreign danger is what we hire Presidents to protect against. Trump failed to do that job. The pandemic is not his fault. US unreadiness? Chaos and lies? Corruption and profiteering? *THAT* was his fault. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…

One way to bail out the Post Office: allow it to build a ton of new housing on all of its underutilized real estate! My latest with the great Nick Zaiac in Tribune papers nationwide: northwestgeorgianews.com/associated_pre…

Why is this an excellent idea? 1. A big chunk of the USPS bailout ask is money to replenish capital funds. Basically, they have a lot of very poorly maintained facilities that need to be rebuilt.

Fascinating piece from Jake Anbinder considering how the dramatic declines in big city rents during COVID can help us reevaluate some very popular notions about gentrification and its causes theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…

We can’t miss this opportunity to get some truly very good bike infrastructure installed on the Southside and in Scott’s Addition. Let DPW know that Sharrows = 👎🏼 and buffered cycle tracks = 👍🏼 ⬇️

The idea of permanently closing Carytown’s business district to cars is nothing new. A Richmond mayoral candidate floated the idea in 2008. But after many cities closed streets during the pandemic, many locals say now’s the time for Richmond to do the same.vpm.org/news/articles/…

Has any Richmond planning org or Richmond VA DPW considered or studied converting many of the Fan’s streets to one-way traffic for cars? Seems like many of the side streets would benefit by only having one lane of traffic and could free up space for bike lanes on bigger ones.
