PSA: the beer list for Brugge Beer Festival 2024 (14-15 Sept) is now available on Untappd. It currently lists 469 beers, but fortunately I’ve prioritised & narrowed the task down to just 62 🤣

2nd stop = Bier Paleis, Katelijnestraat. Draft Achel Tripel hitting the spot in the garden out the back.

3rd stop = @ The Pub for another irresistible draft Gouden Carolus Whisky infused. Sublime.

4th stop last night was Rose Red for a wonderful XX Bitter & more tacos. Two things to note: 1: they've also now run out of Bons Vœux 😮 😱 2: they're closing from 9 Sept until sometime mid-late Oct. It's for renovations, particularly on the hotel side but also affecting the bar.

5th & final stop last night was Huis de Cluuse for more draft Avec Les Bons Vœux. Thankfully, Frederik's stock is holding up, for the moment at least, and despite my best efforts 🤣

Update: I’m reliably informed that the keg finally kicked this evening 😮 - though Frederik does still have a few bottles…for now:

Confirm the rumours are true, La Brocante in Brussels has permanently closed as of 8th August. The owner has removed anything of value & smashed up anything he couldn't take with him. He is currently being pursued for huge debts. A sad end to a great bar. Note Joe Stange

Got a big shock at the local supermarket this morning: six bottles of Westmalle Tripel have gone up from €8.77 to €8.88. Knew I should’ve stocked up when I had the chance 🤣

Part one of this weekend's events celebrating the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Brugge: a WW2 encampment on Kruisvest, complete with loads of army vehicles, a field hospital & field HQ. Fascinating to see all this up close. More to follow later.

Part 2 of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Brugge celebrations: a parade of WW2 vehicles from 't Zand to Burg. We took up position on the Markt & really enjoyed seeing some of the vehicles we'd seen this morning, this time in motion. All preceded by a marching band.

1st beery stop today = @ The Pub, for more Gouden Carolus Whisky infused. For full disclosure, I also had a similarly generous Tripel. Both were great 😂 🍻 🇧🇪

2nd stop = Duvelorium, strategically located with prime viewing position for second of four concerts in the Markt this weekend. All part of the 80th anniversary celebrations of the liberation of Brugge by our great friends in Canada 🇨🇦
