Up to 90% of people with dementia will experience non-cognitive symptoms. It is vital for healthcare professionals to understand symptoms and support appropriately. Sometimes a psychotropic medication is required but in the main, non-pharmacological interventions relieve symptoms

My Medicines List. A fantastic resource for people of all ages and stages. Keeping a medicines list can help you know your medicines, check the details and ask questions, or discuss your medicines with those involved in your healthcare. hse.ie/eng/about/who/…

Such a powerful presentation by Brian Dolan OBE, RMN, RGN at a HSE Ireland patient flow webinar today. #patientflow My favourite nuggets below. Knowledge hoarded is knowledge wasted. You never know when your last 1000 days will start. Focus on what you can control - explore what's possible.

Regular reviews of psychotropic medication prescribed for non-cognitive symptoms of dementia are very important. These reviews can be used to assess the person's condition, check the effectiveness of the medication, and explore whether the person is experiencing any side effects.

Massive well done to Noreen Galvin and the team from HSE South West in organising today's seminar/webinar. Couldn't be there in person due to a meeting clash but was able to watch the majority online. Looking forward to the next one!
