Degrowth time (water use). Brad Udall: “We’ve expended a lot of effort in producing plans” for what happens when the reservoirs fall to critical levels, Mr. Udall said. “And what we’re finding out, unfortunately, is that these plans are turning out to be completely inadequate."

Nice image @UTSnowHydro. As you both know, early meltout dates are highly correlated with runoff reductions and fires. And importantly, the 20-year average shown here would be significantly earlier than the 20th century average. Becky Bolinger

You all should also check out @UTSnowHydro recent tweets on dust on snow. This is a really bad year - dust advances runoff timing very significantly.

This was a great conversation, fun insights from Paolo Bacigalupi author of NAVOLA about his research and writing process for The Water Knife, and great questions from Brad Udall I especially appreciate Paolo urging citizen involvement in local government, water boards, and electric cooperatives

Precisely. There are 2 point Udalls, one on Saint Croix and one on Guam named for Stewart and Morris, respectively. It is said that the sun never sets on the Udall empire. 😎 David Pepper Desert Sooner (Spoutible @DesertSooner)

20 years of scientists clearly, emphatically, loudly pointing out #climatechange impacts on the #coriver basin. Only bright spot at CRWUA - all the excellent reporters there. Daniel Rothberg Brad Udall John Fleck Jeff Lukas Elizabeth Koebele #ColoradoRiver thenevadaindependent.com/article/everyt…

I am completely done with this platform. Everday there is a new wrong; banning journos is yet one more egregious action among too many to count. At some point if you stay here, you own some of the awfulness. I’m over at the Elephant for now. Account will be alive but dormant.

The crisis on the Colorado River is so bad, Lake Mead and Lake Powell are unlikely to refill in our lifetimes. "To think that these things would ever refill requires some kind of leap of faith that I, for one, don’t have." Brad Udall latimes.com/california/sto… Ron Lin Sean Greene

I’ve never been more depressed looking at graphs. This year has already entered uncharted territory in many key respects, and the upcoming El Niño will only make matters worse. We’re not ready for what’s coming.
