#CAEP24 Paul Olszynski discusses the reality of workplace culture and in-situ #sim; the ‘Vegas Rule’ is imperfect. We need to rethink how we frame sim in our institutions to ensure psychological safety for all involved

#CAEP24 Izzy Gray presents a very interesting research project investigating RTED rates for patients seen by various learner populations vs. seen only by attending - in this study, the mid-PGY years had lower RTED rates than patients seen only by attendings

Brent Thoma Wilson Lam Completely agree Brent Thoma. I also think we need to more routinely do exit interviews for all emergency physicians who are choosing to leave emergency medicine either fully or partially. So many people are leaving EM - if we can better understand why this happens, then…1/

Brent Thoma Wilson Lam If we can re-recruit EPs back to emergency medicine by addressing some of the issues that caused them to leave EM (staffing, moral distress, incivility, etc) then we have more experienced clinicians now (not in the future). 2/

It’s been a while since I’ve read such a biased, ill informed and self righteous commentary published in the mainstream media (National Post). 1/ nationalpost.com/opinion/medica…

Shawn Dowling (@shawnkdowling) 's Twitter Profile Photo

National Post There is not a single data point/fact to support this authors thesis but rather 3 "well placed professors" (who wouldn't even use their names) who espouse antiquated and self serving (attempting to preserve the hegemony) views based on seemingly insular experiences. 2/

Shawn Dowling (@shawnkdowling) 's Twitter Profile Photo

National Post should be absolutely embarrassed to have published this article - it has the potential to undermine medical education in Canada and the Canadian Healthcare system as a whole without any evidence to support the claims made. 3/

Shawn Dowling (@shawnkdowling) 's Twitter Profile Photo

National Post I literally supervise dozens medical trainees per year and have not seen anything to support thee views of this author or his anonymous sources. If there is a shred of evidence or fact to support any of these inflammatory views - please present them. Canadian Medical Association UCalgaryMedicine
