Important and brave commentary from the managing partner of one of Calgary's leading commercial law firms. Thank you for sticking your neck out on this and so many other important social, economic and human rights issues in this city Brian. We need more of you. #ableg

People only say things like “rail travel and streetcars are an archaic concept” if they haven’t been to a country with modern rail transit systems.

And they wonder why we chose the bear. Femicides are so normalized we don’t think of them as a particular type of violence wrapped up in power and patriarchy and demanded submission from women

In the 9 years it took to cancel #greenlineyyc, the Calgary of the 80s built almost 50% of our current LRT system. Our leaders weren't thinking about how to get more cars into downtown. They were looking at how to move people around our city quickly and affordably. #yyc #yyccc

Video reconstruction of how Israeli troops killed a young Palestinian boy in Gaza for no reason, then killed six of his family members as they returned from a cemetery to bury him, holding a white flag. Their remains were bulldozed into a pile of garbage. trib.al/9wf8crj

Here’s the statement from Federal Infrastructure minister Sean Fraser’s office about the province’s intention to pull its funding from Calgary’s Green Line.

Did a tour of the City's now former Green Line alignment. Over at Eau Claire, the ex-market & nearby condos are ready for demolition. People lost their homes when their land was bought by the City to make way for the Green Line -- which won't be coming here anytime soon. 1/6

Can you imagine if this area was going to be naturalized and an expansion to the park space along Calgary’s greatest asset the Bow River? Instead it’s going to be repaved with asphalt creating a 4 lane highway for cars that are currently managing just fine with out it. #yyc

“The fact is that we’re in a mess because we spent money we don’t have on things that aren’t people-centred, don’t deliver lasting value, and aren’t creating the city we say we want to be.” — @toon_dreessen #Ottawa Sounds like too many cities. ottawacitizen.com/opinion/dreess…
