Technically, the two hardest problems in computer science are (i) people, (ii) convincing computer scientists that people are the hardest problem, and (iii) off by one errors... but this seems like a corollary of (i) (and maybe (ii)?), so I’ll allow it.

I was able to talk with multiple students 1 on 1 today (w/ masks), get to know them, and help them with problems. Giving extensions to HW assignments. The relief on their faces and the release of tension was worth every second of additional work I might have to do.

I did (almost) no work for 5 days and came back to 228 emails. And those are the ones that weren't auto-filtered. But I see the light at the end of the tunnel that is the end of the semester...
