TBMs Phyllis and Elsie are being disassembled at the future Arbutus Station after completing their journeys.

On May 23, crews lifted #TunnelBoringMachine Phyllis’ cutterhead out of the excavation at Cypress Street.

Can you spot the worker preparing the cutterhead for removal?

In this shot, crews are installing track switches at the elevated guideway. This was the first section of SkyTrain track to be installed on the project.

Can you spot the SkyTrain tracks on the elevated guideway? (Hint: they’re brown.)

Crews are constructing the concrete base to allow for track installation. The tracks will be installed on top of this final concrete layer.

Notice how the tracks will be slightly slanted to the left? This allows for a more comfortable ride as the SkyTrain rounds the corner.

In this shot, crews install rebar for the station walls at the future South Granville Station. 11 concrete columns have also been constructed on this level of the station.

The roof is going up at GNW-Emily Carr Station. This is the first station roof to be constructed, out of the 6 stations.

This photo shows all 3 levels of the station: the platform level, the concourse level & preparations for the station roof underway in the background.

These track switches are the first sections of SkyTrain track to be installed on the Project.

They will allow trains to enter & exit a special third track in the middle of the elevated guideway, called a pocket track, which is used to store trains.

Now that the tunnel boring machines have completed their journeys, crews are excavating connections between the two tunnels, called cross passages.

This one is between GNW-Emily Carr Station and Mount Pleasant Station, and crews have reached halfway to the other side.

Here, a crane lifts a TBM part out of the excavated Arbutus Station site. The TBM parts will be taken away by truck for refurbishment or recycling.

The artwork was created by children aged 12 and under during a submission period last year.

Crews are removing the TBM conveyor system, allowing station construction to proceed unobstructed by tunnelling work.

In this shot of GNW-Emily Carr from mid-April, TBM Phyllis’ conveyor system has already been dismantled, with TBM Elsie still en route to Cypress St.

At South Granville Station, stairs are being constructed in the station entrance. Two escalators will be installed later, one on either side of the stairs.

In this shot of the future Mount Pleasant station, the concourse-level walls are being constructed for the station entrance building. The concourse level is located between ground level and the platform level.

The installation of SkyTrain tracks is beginning at the elevated guideway!

In this shot, the crew use a mobile crane to unload a shipment of rails for the SkyTrain tracks. The first sections of track were lifted on top of the elevated guideway last week.

#TunnelBoringMachine Elsie has arrived at Arbutus Station!

Elsie’s breakthrough today looked very similar to TBM Phyllis’ arrival in late March, pictured here.

In this shot, you can see Phyllis’ cutterhead poking through and rubble collected inside the pressure chamber.

At the future Arbutus Station, a worker inspects the blue and silver supports.

On top, the crew install a work platform to build the concourse level floor. Once the work platform is complete, the crew begin installing rebar before concrete is poured to complete the floor.

This worker is preparing a column for a concrete pour. What you see now is the steel rebar inside the column that helps strengthen it – this will all be hidden once complete.

There are 11 columns just like this one on the platform level of the future South Granville Station.

#TunnelBoringMachine Phyllis arrived at Cypress Street in late March, and crews are now removing the TBM support equipment.
