The danger of a single story: “I didn’t die of sepsis from my miscarriage, so sepsis never happens during miscarriages.” This is a logical fallacy. The anti-abortion movement relies on single anecdotes/stories to push uninformed and inaccurate claims.

This description of coercive control by an intimate partner is chilling. If you’re not familiar with this type of abuse, please read Amitryptyling’s story. See how children are used to perpetuate intimate partner violence.

Can’t believe I got to meet both Lyz Lenz and Shannon Watts tonight in an incredible conversation about American marriage, divorce, interpersonal violence, and the politics of patriarchy. Looking forward to reading This American Ex-Wife. 🔥

Being named Faculty of the Year by the fellows I trained is the ultimate validation. Every scary case, every long night in a transplant with one of these anesthesiologists - it all pays off when you’re shaping a future of better, safer care for their patients. ❤️🙏

I work with surgeons daily as an anesthesiologist and an ethicist. Any surgeon a claims to “save everyone” is a liar. Claims they need to be a jerk to be strong technically? Full of it. Ethical surgeons (and I work with lots of them) are honest, skilled, and compassionate.

Do you see how I keep patients safely unconscious with the appropriate doses of medication for the surgery? Very demure. Very mindful. #Anesthesiology

I’m a liver transplant anesthesiologst - when surgeons cut out a liver on purpose, it’s extremely controlled and high risk. We work together to keep the patient alive while they put in a new liver. To remove a liver by accident (and not even realize it!)…. This is outrageous.

This week, we went to a new parent went at our kid’s high school. Columbine happened when I was a HS student. 25 years later, I worry about my kid and their friends every day. How have we allowed this to be our reality? We are failing our kids.

Fabulous talk by Esther Wei-Yun Landhuis on kids and invisible illness at Stanford Medicine & the Muse Big Ideas in Medicine conference. Caring for kids with PANS/PANDAS changed my career as an anesthesiologist. Glad to hear more discussion around inflammation and psychiatric symptoms.
