Incredible to see how terrified adults are of students. Youth movements terrify weak adults with their integrity, courage and unapologia.
We destroyed the environment, left them in economic turmoil but they show up resilient as ever.
Their actions / compassion is revolutionary.

Just finished reading Brian G. Buckmire novel “Come Home Safe” in anticipation for our The FOLD event tomorrow and I am geeked! Looking forward to the conversation that we’re going have. It has the potential to go in a bunch of different directions but we’ll centre it on writing.

Staff & students from Toronto District School Board & the Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement attended the 42nd BBPA Harry Jerome Awards. What made the night particularly special was being able to celebrate our former colleague Jay Williams with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

I’m still learning. What I hope I am continuously improving at is conveying how important the ethos of Love is in anything we deem meaningful. Without it, acts, action, and art is merely performative. I pray my book has delivered upon that message. That was part of the intention.

This one was important. I was fortunate enough to speak about my mother, Scarborough roots, relationship w hip-hop, tethers to teaching & learning. I’m realizing that writing is one thing, speaking about the meaning of what you’ve written is a thing entirely unto itself. #BBLM

My brother Jay said “don’t flinch, you asked for this” and we would talk about that on the porch. So I’m not going to because I can’t and I won’t and I already made a promise, silently, to him before. That we would lift the ones coming up after us. I’m obliged to honour that.
