Do you know what is a blackleg canker? It is a dry rot at the base of a canola stem caused by the fungus, Leptosphaeria maculans. If you look at these stems closely you will see the base of the stem becoming woody and gnarled. This is the canker we often talk about. #WestCdnAg

So, ag-Twitter. It's time to "help an ento out". If you find canola flower midge in the pods of your canola field, take 10 sweeps and estimate the Lygus bug pressure in your field as well as note the number of pods with midge larvae. Why? Maybe Lygus holes =midge egg sites

🔍Scout now, plan ahead! Blackleg in #canola can cause yield and quality losses. It’s important to monitor your fields from now through harvest. Send samples for race identification if you spot signs. While it’s too late to manage this year, start planning now to reduce loss in

Pre-harvest glyphosate may only be applied when grain moisture is <30%. For #canola, this means waiting until 50-60% seed colour change in the least mature areas of the field. Know what to look for with the Keep it Clean pre-harvest staging guide: bit.ly/4eexmFS #CdnAg

Can you go 4 for 4 in our latest quiz on canola storage? So far only 3% of respondents have a perfect score. (It's anonymous, so I don't know if these are storage experts. One of them is me and I wrote the quiz.😁) canolacouncil.org/canola-watch/2…
