1) The richest 10% of households in Australia had an average wealth of $5.2m. Among these rich households aged over 65, 38% paid no income tax.

New research by ACOSS and UNSW reveals the extent of wealth inequality in Australia. While the lowest 60% of households saw a 55% increase in wealth over two decades, the highest 10% witnessed an 84% surge.
