the actual encampment at Columbia—i'm here after teaching my final class of the semester—is downright tranquil, impossibly sweet. there is a 'nut zone' for the safety of kids with allergies.

'I'm just a Jewish student out to stand for Palestinian liberation. In terms of the encampment -- it's a peaceful protest. To portray it as some violent protest, let alone a violent protest against some specific group, is just ridiculous.'
