🌊 A blue wave of change ! We particularly welcome the two following proposals in the Political Guidelines for 2024-2029 presented by President Ursula von der Leyen to the European Parliament this morning (1/6)

🌍 The inclusion of a “European Oceans Pact” as we had advocated for together with Oceano Azul Foundation and a group of high-level stakeholders. It will focus on the blue economy, ocean governance and the sustainability of our ocean; (2/6)

🐟 The appointment of a Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans, instead of a Commissioner solely dedicated to Fisheries as, for a time, envisaged. (3/6)

🤝 In the course of the European elections 2024, Europe Jacques Delors and the Oceano Azul Foundation with the support of a group of 29 stakeholders, elaborated a Manifesto for a European Ocean Pact and advocated for it over the past months. (4/6)

🔗 The stakeholder group also advocated to maintain the 3 intertwined issues of ocean sustainability, fisheries and maritime affairs under the same portfolio, to keep strengthening an integrated and systemic approach to the ocean. (5/6)
