Today the Belfast City Council Lord Mayor Ryan Murphy opened formally the Castle Maze today. He also visited the restored herb garden at the Castle. Both these sites are a tribute to the hard work and dedication of all our volunteers.

Yesterday, Saturday was a lovely sunny October morning for working on Cave Hill. We had a group continuing work in the maze, another group planting in the herb garden and a third group began the work of cutting laurel around the Volunteers' Well. There's always plenty to be done.

The Trainee Rangers enjoyed their Celebration Night last night as the 15 week long scheme came to a close. We'll be sharing their highlights later this week 👀 Many thanks to the Sunflower pub for hosting us & all the staff for their hard work keeping things running smoothly.

Yesterday, we were joined in our work on the maze by students who are following an environmental course with the Belfast Hills Partnership with staff members Sylvia and Polly. It was good to see them & they were a great help. Vivek turned up at half-time with plentiful supplies.

Making good use of an anti graffiti kit supplied by Belfast PCSP and Belfast City Council our volunteers managed to clean some of the information and mountain bike trail signage in Cave Hill Country Park. Some before and after shots. Cavehill Mountainbikers

8 volunteers from @WSP UK, an engineering consortium joined us today for a litter lift. We gave them a guided tour of the woods and they lifted 8 large bags of rubbish from deep among the trees. A great day's work from a lovely, lively bunch. Thanks, guys!

Phil Simpson @buzzardbushcraft & his daughter Lisa led a superb forage walk in #Cavehill wood. They showed us a range of plants & described their medicinal & culinary uses. We then treated us to elderflower champagne, compote of wild fruits, nettle soup & flour/nettle biscuits.
