So happy to see Mary Wilkins Freeman's Six Trees translated into French by a former student of mine, Pauline Tardieu-Collinet. It was fun translating and revising my preface into a postface! Thank you to the editions Finitude, and Hastings College Press for the English edition.

Exciting conversation yesterday on African American epistolarity in the age of enslavement at A19, U Paris Cité. With Bridget Bennett (Leeds) & Erin Forbes (Bristol), we talked about writing oneself into independence, separation, love and...a white hat! LARCA ValeSorbonneU

"Will the Paris of the Olympics prove to be the mythic, phantasmagorical navel of the world at the centre of so many imaginations, films and pictures?" Stephen Sawyer from AUP on new books by Simon Kuper and Justinien Tribillon in this week's The TLS the-tls.co.uk/world/travel/i…

Two days ago in the Lot, where poet W.S. Merwin lived, Thomas (Dutoit) and I talked at the Souillac public library. We discussed the poem "Foreign Accents" with the local population. Nobody's at home in their own country, everybody's a foreigner with an accent...and it is good.
