Just finished Neha Dixit's book. Devastating. A staggering work of sustained qualitative data collection over 9 years. Both the protagonist and the author were subject to violent threats during drafting. A vivid reminder that recall is nonlinear, 60 minutes may not be enough.

I loved this retelling of huck Finn told through Jim. It has an amusing conceit - the slaves speak in a patios to sound stupid to their masters- and gripping. But the heart of it is the huck- jim relationship, who form a bond shaped by colour. This one will win all the prizes.

Full bleed back cover author portraits were once a thing — and still have the power to reach us, even after the author has gone: — John le Carré (1979) and Susan Sontag (1968)

A searing account of urban life in today’s India. The Many Lives of Syeda X has left me gutted even though I’ve dirtied my hands in journalistic trenches for decades. ⁦Neha Dixit⁩ take a bow for narrating a grim but very real picture of what it is to be on the margins

‘displacements happened because of rising communalism and caste violence and how it had an impact on someone like Syeda who had leave because her house was burned down in the riots.’ Namita Bhandare & I speak about my book. hindustantimes.com/opinion/neha-d…

What are the factors that lead me to say yes to a submission? The main reason I haven’t mentioned at all in the video - it’s the quality of the writing or idea. But after that bare minimum, there are three factors that influence my decision. #publishing

The snowy day is a children’s classic - it takes you right into the delicious feeling of a kid enjoying a winter’s day. It’s also a really gentle and calming book, very good for bedtime. A book that you will love reading as much as your kids for 4-6 #shokybookclub
