Since 2019, when Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot announced Sunday hours at all library locations, we've seen a 35% increase in engagement on Sundays. #Access

We’ve seen an average of 5,000 visitors per month at our locations, even during covid, and have seen more than 48 million unique engagements with Chicagoans so far this year.

It's important that we provide Chicago's youth with safe space for teens to follow their passions! We're proud that participation by teens increased by 46% over the summer!

Thanks to increased collection support from Mayor Lightfoot and the City Council in 2022, we have been able to update children's collections in 20 south & west side branches this year, as well as cut wait times by a week for popular items!

Prior to CPL's elimination of fines in 2019, over 100k youths had their library cards blocked. With our recent launch of the 81 Club, more than 322,000 CPS students and 21,000 teachers now have enabled more students to access key learning resources!
