Resident physicians at Montefiore Health System are taking their power BACK! More than four decades after the (now reversed) Cedars-Sinai decision took away their right to collectively bargain, Montefiore residents and fellows have once again formed a union. CIR/SEIU

4) Transform patient care through structural change...
- a. improving our training and skills as individuals
- b. directly change the upstream drivers of 'social determinants' and create the system patients + HCWs deserve

The new Labor movement among residents has exciting momentum (eg USC winning 14% pay increase) but it's WAY bigger than $:

1) optimal learning experience

2) safe working conditions (*structural* drivers of suicide/depression)

3) 'benefits' to be a human being (eg weekends 😑)

Teamsters rallied with our fellow UC Davis Health Unions on 10/27 to oppose unfair parking costs! We refuse to accept higher fees while we pay for parking spots that barely exist. Thank you to every Teamster who turned out and made UC Davis Health listen to Union workers!

Time for Montefiore Health System to do the same.

I call on Montefiore Health System to respect the will of a supermajority of their resident physicians and recognize their union with CIR/SEIU. When you invest in resident physicians, you invest in patient care. #monteisunionyes
