The Washoe County Senior Center will remain open throughout the night as a shelter for those impacted by #DavisFire. The American Red Cross of Nevada is providing snacks, meals, and overnight accommodations for people and small pets. The Senior Center is located at 1155 East Ninth Street, Reno.

⚠️Update on #DavisFire evacuations. Residents can we return home north of Mt Rose HWY. Some areas may not have power restored. HWY remains closed. Use alternate routes. Evacuations remain in effect in St. James Village, Galena, and areas south of Mt Rose HWY.

⚠️#DavisFire is an active fire. While there appears to be no fire activity, there are numerous hotspots. We anticipate flareups from a wind event expected later this morning that will last throughout the day. This is why evacuations remain in place in areas south of Mt Rose HWY.

Evacuations have been reinstituted for ArrowCreek as the wind is rekindling the #DavisFire. Check perimetermap.com for details.

Paving and utility adjustments will be taking place on Avenue of the Oaks on Tuesday, September 10 and Thursday, September 12. Work hours will be 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please use Victorian Avenue as a detour.

The #DavisFire has gained ground with high winds today. Governor Joe Lombardo has issued a State Declaration of Emergency in order to coordinate efforts to fight the fire.

Mayor Lawson proclaimed this week, Sept 8-14 as #SuicidePreventionWeek. Suicide is the 12th leading cause of death in the United States, with more than 130 suicides per day. We encourage all our residents to reach out to those in need and prioritize mental heath. #SparksProud

🚨 Important Update: No School Monday, September 9 🚨 Due to the Davis Fire and its impacts on our community, all WCSD schools, except for Gerlach K-12 School, are closed on Monday, September 9. This includes before and after-school activities and athletic practices.
