It was SO hot today πŸ₯΅ & patient was wearing layers, coat and scarf. I saw sensory needs, whereas doctor saw negative symptoms of schizophrenia. A reminder we all view things through a different lens - and often this means we miss the full picture, and the person themselves.

Hello Twitter world! We are on the look out for a self assessment screening tool for sensory preferences and experience... We are keen to have questions that target interoception and environmental preferences not just activities. Please help #mySLTday #OT #Autism #AHP

Dear everyone, stop saying β€œthey lack capacity” A diagnosis does not mean a person β€œlacks capacity.” Remember presume capacity If reason to question capacity - remember β€œtime and decision” specific assessments use RELEVANT information to the specific decision. #mca

A powerful exercise to illustrate being a person who is restricted e.g. in long term segregation. I wrote down 5 most important things to me + person sitting next to me took 3 of them away. The thought of being without them was unbearable. @Talk1stCNTW jobrackleyπŸ’œ #RRN

Every time I’ve done a sensory profile assessment with a patient who has the diagnosis EUPD/BPD, they have come out with significant sensory needs which would warrant reasonable adjustments eg ear defenders, dimmer lights, stim toys Really makes you wonder…

Breaking my Twitter hiatus with a small plea - any speech and language therapists working in ENT / voice / upper airways who I could chat to for some advice please?
