I found this young #echidna recently, happily destroying an ant nest with absolutely no worries about me watching, or the ants biting him. I couldn't believe how hard he was jabbing his nose into the earth, so that he could grab ant larvae with his long tongue 💕

Dr Emily Scicluna 🌏 The Australian Mammal Society We were alerted to a dead Powerful Owl that had died pulling itself off remnant barbed wire at Archerfield wetlands in Brisbane last year. So heartbreaking and unnecessary. The council were contacted, but to my knowledge it still hasn't been removed.

Barbed wire and #wildlife don't mix. My heart aches. While on #fieldwork recently I found 4 deceased native #bats , a few metres from each other.
I believe these are Little red #flyingfoxes , semi-permanent residents of northern VIC.
