I've never seen a black-billed Cattle Egret before. Is it commonly seen in recently fledged juveniles?

The two breeding plumaged adults were smart too! (Cley NWT today).

It was nice to see the White-rumped Sandpiper at Titchwell today (as I didn't get to Snettisham), though not since early morning has it been anything other than elusive and distant.

Cley NWT has been fantastic for egrets for the past week or so, with double figures of Littles, Greats & Cattles every day, + nearly as many Spoonbills too. Though most are adults, from being a real novelty, we're getting quite used to the black-billed juvenile Cattle Egrets now.

A nice surprise to walk into Daukes Hide this morning and find this smart White-rumped Sandpiper, and it even came quite close for a while too. It's the 21st I've seen at Cley, but the first for nine years.

Brown Hawker Dragonflies are established in small numbers at Cley NWT nowadays, but they're challenging to photograph in flight so I was quite pleased with this one hawking at East Bank Main Cut this morning.

A delight of migrant sandpipers on Cley NWT Pat's Pool this evening: 13 Greens, 5 Commons and 5 Woods, with this Wood coming nice and close for a while.

Another brood of five Swallows ready to fledge at Cley NWT. Bucking the trend, they've done well here this year.

At last, a Pied Flycatcher. This one of two or three at Salthouse Gramborough Hill this afternoon. There seems to be a small fall of them going on all around the Norfolk coast right now.

A glorious afternoon on Blakeney Point yesterday: more birds than I've seen there since the great fall of September 2002 and more Wheatears, Redstarts & Pied Flycatchers than I saw everywhere in the whole of last autumn! (More pics at cleybirds.com.)

This White-rumped Sandpiper is amongst the assorted small waders giving lovely, really close views at Titchwell RSPB Island Hide. Small waders are never this close to the hides at Cley... (More pics as usual at cleybirds.com.)

There was another wonderful fall of migrant birds on Blakeney Point yesterday afternoon, with this gorgeous Red-breasted Flycatcher the star.
