I’m excited to discuss our latest research on how ambient CO2 affects how long #SARSCoV2 remains infectious in air. We report that even subtle increases in CO2 affects both how long #COVIDisAirborne and transmission risk. Here’s a🧵going over the findings nature.com/articles/s4146…

7/8 Infections caused by tight bottlenecks are in theory more preventable. Where infection is caused by a single virus, an intervention halving viral exposure potentially halves infections. Halving exposure where infection is caused by 100 viruses means that 50 still get in.

With team at Queen Mary University of London we recently developed a new method for estimating relative exposure risk to SARS-CoV-2 indoors. Check out: mdpi.com/2311-5521/9/3/… Results confirm that good ventilation is very important. #COVID19 #SARSCoV2 #infection

Obviously for some people history is fixed in stone and can never be changed. However, like it or not, things do change. Water does not flow up hill, no matter how many times you say it does ...

Very sad for us United fans. Great plot. Lots of stuff for analysts to sink teeth into. On 21 Nov 2021, Solskjær left MU after 12 matches in charge. According to this, United were doing very well then compared with now #soccer #Rstats #DataScience

Solskjaer left Man Utd where the red line is on the plot. Given that there is a lag due to the plot being a rolling average, it means he left at just about the peak, dispite the run of poor results #soccer #ManUtd #Rstats #DataScience

Why do we find it so difficult to deal with airborne transmission today? We think it's because our research is not ambitious enough. It should aim to analyze the entire decision-making system, using appropriate methodologies. Complex systems engineering can help.

Some years ago we looked at overcrowd in connection with handwashing and cohorting. We found that high patient to staff ratios increased infection rates, especially if cohorting was not adequate. Checkout #AJIC ajicjournal.org/article/S0196-… #infection #MRSA
