We are delighted to begin work on a new @ClydeWetlands mapping project on behalf of local authority partners! Study outputs will underpin the creation and enhancement of wetlands across the Glasgow City Region in a targeted way as part of wetland #naturenetworks... 💧🐸🌿
Growing places... a new nature and climate friendly vision for Glasgow City Region has been launched. Tree planting in East Dunbartonshire includes land in Bishopbriggs and Torrance. For more info, visit gcvgreennetwork.gov.uk and clydeclimateforest.co.uk/projects/targe…
The GCV Green Network team got lucky with the weather yesterday! The pic shows a soon to be contiguous strip of #speciesrichgrassland in eastern Port Glasgow, that will sit strategically within a Grassland #NatureNetwork 👏Project partners Green Action Trust Inverclyde Council #pollinators 🦋
Out of 115 species of bees in Scotland, at least 4 of which are now thought to be extinct (info from BuglifeScotland). You can show your support for your local bee population by letting your lawn grow with #NoMowMay and growing flora that support them. #WorldBeeDay
Great to do some grassland surveying yesterday at East Kilbride with South Lanarkshire Council Councillor Kirsten Robb & Jackie from Incredibly Wild East Kilbride. We saw the results that simple changes to mowing regimes from the council are already bringing to 8 sites in the St Leonards area🦋🌱🐝

With the mowing regime reduced to once a year (in September), the re-emergence of flora such as broad-leaved helleborine (below) and bugle can already be seen

Volunteers, ClydeGrasslands and the council are working to improve grassland habitats for pollinator species in EK, including in this ward (see map). In response to the loss of 97% of the UK's species rich grasslands since 1940’s + importance of pollinators for human survival.

Maukinhill grassland in #Greenock looking fantastic! These spectacular meadows were created after development work by GCV Green Network & partners Green Action Trust Inverclyde Council. Part of an emerging suite of 20 sites in a #NatureNetwork by the Clyde estuary in 2024 #nationalmeadowsday
Thanks again to @naturescot whose #NatureRestorationFund allowed our ClydeGrasslands mapping study to plan meadow creation in a strategic way across the Glasgow City Region #pollinators 🦋🐛 More👉 gcvgreennetwork.gov.uk/our-blueprint-…
Wonderful excuse to get out and connect with nature over the next few weeks. Find your local bog, meadow or grassland and take 15 minutes out to survey for moths and butterflies ClydeGrasslands ClydePeatlands
