was really stuck for about two days on my presentation for next week, but threw on some music, did some late night powerpoint, and wrote the entire thing in 5 hours. I do love the late night work because I can just ignore everything else happening (because there is not much)

Anyway, my advice to new grad students would be to just hang in there, work hard, because as bad as it seems, you'll come out of it if you work hard.

But, still, I think the PhD was really important because it allowed me to sort of build something from the ground-up, something I'm incredibly proud of. You know, you're in grad school since 2016 and life just happens and you gotta deal with it.

I don't really plan on being a professor anymore. My goal was to move to France and be a professor at the Sorbonne -- I had even started discussions with CNRS about starting that process -- but that's sort of not my goal anymore since developing all of the medical problems I did

That said, it takes a certain type of person and definitely a person of a certain level of determination and persistence, it seems.

I'm not done with it yet, hopefully soon, but I can honestly look at everything I've done and take ownership of the whole thing and be extremely proud of the work. It just feels good, it's the work I'm most proud of in my entire life.

It's sort of a powerful, transformative experience, honestly. It had a lot of ups and downs, it was longer than any job I had in my career, but I sort of can look at everything that's happened and say yeah, that was *me* and feel good about it.
