Art Senato Agreed…even “catch play” at short distances (minus any feet planted drills by design). The common standing straight up, casual one legged leg swing to throw a short distance isn’t practicing a baseball game throw and isn’t impressing any trained baseball eyes that are watching.

This is a PSA that needs to be consistently repeated. Playing catch is a skill acquisition drill. Quick hands partner competitions vs teammates in 30 second rounds w/ some sort of conditioning deduction for winners to ensure it was taken seriously is what we did every practice

Art Senato Active footwork is a must! We gave our infielders 4 options when receiving during catch play….relay footwork, double play footwork, change direction footwork, apply the tag.
Cannot be lazy during catch play, it will carry over.

Infielders, when you play catch you have to have “active feet.” Overemphasize this during your daily catch play and it will translate to the field. If you’re lazy during catch play, it catches up to you, especially in an outfield relay situation. #EverythingMatters
