As we are approaching open gyms next week, I want to remind the NJSIAA and NJSIAA🇺🇸 are NOT about the kids with basketball recruiting. These college coaches have limited days to get to open gyms and taking away the weekends is the single DUMBEST thing they could have done.

That may be you coach, but I run an open gym at a high school and rules are being followed. The problem is schools are not following and instead of the schools and NJSIAA punishing that school, they changed the rules. The elimination of the weekend open gyms is terrible. For

I agree. But if I’m not mistaken, the best way to promote the open gym is to have a coach not on staff send it and and make sure beforehand that a coach will be in attendance. If you go to start the open gym and no coaches are there, shut it down and everyone goes home. The

That’s why giving high schools the weekend is key. Allows the smaller schools to work around the heavyweights. Unfortunately you can only have kids from your HS, that isn’t an NJSIAA issue, the NCAA has to change that: but we know they want to get rid of AAU if they could 🤷🏾‍♂️
