It was fantastic to hear Vice Chair of @coalfieldsregen Nicky Wilson on @BBCRadioScotland talking about his experiences and his hopes for the future following the #MinersStrike. Listen to the full interview on the BBC Sounds app here: bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

It’s really interesting to hear @coalfieldsregen trustee Bob Young talk about his experience of the 1984 #MinersStrike. Many of the issues facing people in coalfield communities are not historic and still exist today. @coalfieldsregen works to address those issues.

It was great to visit #Chopwell and meet Liz Twist MP, councillors and officers from Gateshead Council and Jodie from the Chopwell Regeneration Group. A really great example of a proud coalfield community coming together to improve their neighbourhood!

Almost one in five people living in the former coalfields is economically inactive. We were pleased to hear Liz Kendall outline her plans to tackle this at the launch of the Pathways to Work report in #Barnsley. Coalfields Regeneration Trust can play a key role in achieving this goal.

Great to attend today’s first meeting of the #Labour Group for Coalfield Communities in #Westminster as part of our cross-party engagement work. Brilliant to see a packed room of MPs with energy and momentum to improve lives in coalfield communities.
