Last night hundreds of thousands of protesters took to the streets of Tel Aviv and other cities across Israel to demand a deal to release hostages, after the Israeli army recovered the dead bodies of six hostages killed in Gaza.

There must be an immediate and sustained ceasefire by all parties to protect all civilians, prevent further loss of lives and to bring a desperately needed end to the man made humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

All civilian hostages in Gaza and arbitrarily detained Palestinians must be released immediately. Israel and Hamas must immediately allow access to and fully cooperate with independent investigations into crimes under international law by all parties to the conflict.
