General Nugents' order of the day meant for the eve of the battle, which being postponed, fell on the 30th of June. Picture 2;disposition of the 109th Brigade in Thiepval Wood who would lead the attack on the 1st July.

11th July 1914,Sir Edward Carson inspects a Maxim machine gun mounted on the back of a modified motor car,from a design by Mr. Frank E Cradock, who was in charge of it.Fred Crawford & Frank Hall imported 6 brand new Vickers Maxim machine guns in early 1913.
