Het UMCG heeft als eerste ziekenhuis in Nederland een kankerpatiënt met een tumor in het hoofdhalsgebied behandeld met stamcellen uit zijn eigen speekselklier. Dit moet ervoor zorgen dat zijn speekselklieren na de behandeling weer werken.
