Northants win a County Championship match for the first time in 2024, at 17.32 on September 11. Perhaps now they will avoid a first wooden spoon since 1978. When you've never won the Championship that's something worth clinging on to!

WE WIN! WHAT A FINISH! 🙌 A last ball boundary from Dalzell gives us our second ever ODI win over England women and first since 2001. ▪️ England 153 (20.5 overs) ▪️ Ireland 155-7 (22 overs) #BackingGreen #FuelledByCerta ☘️🏏

Blast Finals Day set for Sept 13 in 2025, which feels like a misstep and a shame, given the obvious benefits of playing the comp in a block ahead of The Hundred and the issues that a return to September has highlighted this year, particularly around overseas players.

Two spinners taking all 20 wickets in a County Championship match this century: Jason Brown 10/Monty Panesar 10 (Northants v Yorks, Northampton 2005) Rob Keogh 13/Graeme White 7 (Northants v Glam, Northampton 2016) Jack Leach 9/Archie Vaughan 11 (Somerset v Surrey, Taunton 2024)

Delighted for Gloucestershire. Top man as coach, Boo-Boo. And a largely locally raised team, not many superstars, even the one called Hammond. #GoGlos

Leicestershire are 96-3 just before lunch here at Northampton and the ball is ragging for Chahal and Keogh. Rehan Ahmed striding out and Louis Kimber next. The passage after lunch could be interesting...

Great feature to be part of in the September issue of The Cricketer, remembering the best finishes in the County Championship over the last 50 years, from those who were involved

Glorious autumn afternoon sunshine in Northampton for the final home Championship game of the season. Have always said September is fine for (daytime) cricket. Early April I'm not so sure about...

All a bit demob-happy at Wantage Road, but still engrossing to see two international leg-spinners at work - one master in Chahal, the other a developing player in Rehan

A century for James Sales at Northampton. Scored a ton on a flattie in April, a couple more Champo games, then was left out until the One-Day Cup. And he's barely bowled for the 1st XI. I was never a Sadler Out ultra, but this has been a bit perplexing...
