Travel Tuesday goes to Thornbury! Formerly Binkley Apples now Blue Mountain Fruit Company located on 33rd Side Rd, Thornbury. George Binkley bought 10 acres in 1939 and planted apple orchards. Today the name may have changed but is still open and operating to this day.

The Valley Haven Campground was located on 250 Clark St. Clarksburg, it was started in 1899 by Reverend F.D. Goff. The camp had a well drilled in1909 to provided fresh water to the camp site. Today it is now the Sheffield Park Black History Museum.

Loree schoolhouse located on side road 21 was the fourth schoolhouse built for the Loree area. Standing on the foundation of the third school that had burned down in a lightning strike in 1937 the fourth school survived a second lightning strike and it is now a private home.

Travel Tuesday goes to Duncan! Duncan Union Church located on lot 9 Concession 1 was built in 1901 by Alexander McKeown, over the years it held many important community events until its closure in 1965. Today it is now a private home.

Travel Tuesday goes to Kolapore The Tower of Babel was located on lot 10 concession 8 on Peter Stoutenburg's property. The Tower was four stories high with windows on each floor with a staircase that took visitors to the top. The tower no longer stands today and is farmer fields.

Goldsmith Orchards on 207600 HWY 26, Thornbury was once owned by the Ardiel Brothers who grew, stored, and packed apples until 2006. They sold the business to Oakley Orchards who now run a road side market.

Travel Tuesday goes to Redwing! Located on lot 11 Concession 13 the Redwing post office started March 1, 1880, by Robert C. Allan, then succeeded by John L.G. Conklin in 1881 who ran it till 1892. Today the post office building is no longer standing.

The school was built by Richard Carroll, who had built several other schools located on 4 Line. The bell was purchased and installed in 1908 and steel siding added in 1910. It was the first school to have a kitchen to make hot lunches for students. Today it is now a private home.

The Clarksburg general store and post office was built by Benjamin Jabes Marsh. It was a large frame building located on the west side of Marsh Street in 1863. The general store would also house the Clarksburg Post Office. Today it is an art studio.

Travel Tuesday goes to Thornbury! The Thornbury dam located at 24 Bridge St The dam was constructed in 1855 to support the flour, woolen, and barley mills, and sawmill. Today, the dam provides hydro-electric power for the Town of The Blue Mountains.

In 1955 Blue Mountain Pottery opened their second Factory and Showroom, on HWY 26 in Craigleith. Thier pottery quickly took off as across Ontario as it was promoted by Simpsons, a national department store. Today, there are multiple businesses on this location.
