Haven’t been present for #SundayFishSketch the past few weeks so here’s Lamprotoxus flagellibarba, or “The Dragon of the Shining Bow,” a barbeled dragonfish living in the deepest depths of Earth’s oceans. For the #SciArtSeptember crossover Day 1 prompt “fang”. Liz Butler
The prompt for #SciArtSeptember Day 2 was “Weeping.” One definition of weeping is “mourning” so I thought of the Mourning Doves (Zenaida macroura) that used to call “mournfully” to each other in the “weeping” willows in our yard. Liz Butler
For #SciArtSeptember Day 3 prompt of “Grim” I used the dictionary definition of “Fierce in disposition or action” and thought immediately of wolves. In Norse mythology, Geri and Freki are two wolves which accompanied the god Odin and were the providers of his meat. Liz Butler
I always feel as if I am being “cursed” at by crows whenever I encounter them in nature. They are very vocal. That’s how I am going to connect this art to the day 4 prompt of “Cursed” offered up by #SciArtSeptember. Liz Butler
A deep-sea Anglerfish for the #SundayFishSketch, another fish living in the deepest depths of Earth’s oceans. For the #SciArtSeptember crossover Day 8 prompt “Illuminated”. Bioluminescent bacteria lives in the fish’s “Headlamp.” Liz Butler
