Recently, Cure SMA Foundation of India 🇮🇳 organised #SMArtCON 2024, a 2 day conference involving various stakeholders to share insights on indigenous research in Spinal Muscular Atrophy, latest advancements such as new disease-modifying therapies and multidisciplinary supportive care for SMA. 🧵

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a rare neuro muscular genetic disorder affecting the motor neurons - nerves cells which control voluntary muscle movement. It is one of the most common genetic disorders affecting young children.

Rakesh K Mishra gave his remarks on the need to develop non invasive diagnostic methods for early detection of SMA. He also emphasised the need to conduct research in developing indigenous therapeutics for SMA.
