STAY OUT OF RIVERS AND CREEKS. We've received reports of power lines down in that could be energizing the water. Residents should not recreate on or around the water.

The Poverello Center homeless shelter in Missoula is closed due to the power outage. But the Johnson Street Emergency Shelter is open. That facility is asking for donated sack lunches since the Pov’s kitchen is closed. Donations can be dropped off at 1919 N. Ave. West

Spoke with a few residents of the Hollywood Trailer Court in Missoula. Their homes are particularly susceptible to wind damage and power outages, but miraculously nobody’s home was seriously hit

I’m hearing from a reliable source that Northwestern Energy believes there are over 300 power poles down in the Missoula area and it may take up to 5 days to get power back in places like Turah

Still no power for large chunks of Montana’s second-largest city 36 hours after the windstorm, many busy intersections without traffic lights. Liquor store across the street from my house got restored quickly. Heard chainsaws have been selling out at local stores

If you read a long-form story today, make it this one. This is something I've seen in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming, and my colleague captured it beautifully: wyofile.com/leaving-blue-s…

There are 1,553 people on the waitlist for low-income housing vouchers in Missoula. The government's definition of fair market rent here has been outpaced by the reality of actual rent increases , so only half of voucher holders will actually use them: missoulian.com/news/local/mis…

Another twist in the Holland Lake Lodge saga: A couple guys announced their intention to purchase the historic property on Tuesday. One said he believes some sort of expansion is necessary, but nothing on the scale POWDR was proposing: missoulian.com/news/local/bus…
