Barber of Seville and Magic Flute are only great for first timers when they are done as amazingly as Charles Court Opera and English National Opera have done them. I thought I could never truly enjoy Barber of Seville but my god the Charles Court production is glorious and hilarious 👏

Such, such fun tonight at Charles Court Opera's Barber of Seville at Wilton's. A brilliantly witty, energetic production; David Eaton's translation is full of fantastic one-liners and outrageous rhymes. And Jonathan Eyers' Figaro is a magnificent performance.

I just saw the Charles Court Opera Opera playing a Western version of the Barber of Seville at #WiltonsMusicHall . A truly fabulous performance set in the perfect venue for this superb show!

#19: Barber of Seville from Charles Court. Absolutely brilliant. Libretto VERY free but very witty. Discovery is Jonathan Eyers (NOS) (Figaro) but all really good. And hats off to pianist (and translator) David Eaton.

A lovely partially impartial write up! It's nice to share the big hitters, but there are lots of excellent writers working on their own personal blogs too.
