A collective struggle to score has fallen on the entire Cubs lineup, complicating any efforts to grind through the slump.

'We need to break that cycle and start scoring runs,' Jed Hoyer said.

But they required extra innings to secure a 6-3 win.

The Cubs' 5 runs in the 10th tonight vs. MIL are their most in an inning since May 11 when they tallied 7 runs in 5th at the Pirates, who walked in six of them in that frame.

In the 14 games between then, the Cubs had only four innings in which they scored more than two runs.

Down to Brewers' last strike, Willy Adames gets enough of Héctor Neris' splitter to tie game in 9th. He's thrown out going to 2B, on to extras.

Cubs' wasted opportunities with runners in scoring position loom again in a 1-1 game. Twice had bases loaded tonight and got nothing.

Ben Brown’s performance tonight made him the first MLB pitcher age 24 or younger with a start of at least 7 IP, 0 H, 0 R and at least 10 strikeouts since Justin Verlander's no-hitter on June 12, 2007 vs. MIL.

He’s first Cub to put up that line at that age since at least 1901.

The Sky finish a 77-68 loss with more turnovers (21) than assists (19).

Every Sky player who touched the floor tonight gave up at least one turnover. Every starter gave up at least two.

Seattle's defense was decently disruptive but the bulk of this was self-inflicted.
