Commander Strategic Command, General James Hockenhull has brought the 16 week Higher Command & Staff Course (HCSC) course to a close.

HCSC prepares future leaders from the UK and overseas for higher command & staff appointments across defence & security environments.

Recently, we welcomed students and staff from the Royal Jordanian National Defence College.

The visit aimed to show how the UK delivers professional military education through a site tour of our colleges and groups. The visit also reinforced the UK-Jordanian Defence bond.

Higher Command Staff Course (HCSC) students recently benefitted from a visit by Sir Simon Gass, former Chair of the Joint Intelligence Committee, & former Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s Political Director.

The course is supported by Defence Studies KCL.

Members of the Higher Command and Staff Course (HCSC) were joined by Chief of the Defence Staff 🇬🇧 for a fireside chat in their final week.

This year’s HCSC was attended by 42 course members including military, industry, partners across government and partner nation officers.

The International Section recently delivered a Managing Defence in the Wider Security Context to the 🇲🇩Moldovan Ministry of Defence Post Graduate Education Course.

26 government delegates learned about regional security drivers and how to draft policies to help promote security.

Recently, Defence WOME Engineering School students presented theme-based research at the Research & Development Day.

The winning group were presented with an award by the Institute of Explosive Engineers.

The Defence Academy achieved success at this year’s MOD Sanctuary Awards.

Recently, the Higher Command and Staff Course visited Europe. They visited NATO HQ and SHAPE_NATO Allied Command Operations in Belgium, and NATO JFC HQ Brunssum in the Netherlands.

Their final stop was Poland, for briefings and trips to Auschwitz-Birkenau and the Katyn Forest Massacre Memorial.

Major General Andrew Roe welcomes AVM Paul Godfrey, Commander UK Space Command, to Shrivenham Station. In formal recognition of the UK Space Academy & UK Defence Academy partnership, he met with our Senior Leadership Team & staff from the Defence Cyber Academy.

Recently, we welcomed a delegation from the 🇪🇹Ethiopian National Defence Force (ENDF) War College.

The visit aimed to forge closer working links with the ENDF and show how the Defence Academy delivers professional military education.

Last month, former Kuwaiti Advanced Command and Staff Course and Royal College of Defence Studies members came together to attend the first ever Kuwait UK Alumni Dinner.
