This year at IOM Timor-Leste, we pay tribute to some of the longest-serving humanitarian staff of the Mission. They show their dedication, at all levels and across years, to serving migrant and mobile populations in Timor-Leste #nomatterwhat
As the longest-serving staff in IOM Timor-Leste, Joao shares his story when he was involved in the return and reintegration of Timorese from 1999 until 2002.

Thank you Shandra Woworuntu for your passion & empowering leadership, as you so powerfully advocate against #HumanTrafficking and for safe migration. It’s a rare privilege to meet someone so special, that reminds us of why we do, what we do. You’re an inspiration. 💙🙏🏽
Chief of Mission Ihma Shareef & program colleagues IOM Timor-Leste were delighted to meet Ambassador Shin Man-Taek of 🇰🇷 to discuss cont.cooperation on migration health, labour mobility, emigration & support to populations in hard to reach areas, especially border communities.
.Shandra Woworuntu of Mentari USA is a courageous survivor of trafficking in persons and an ardent advocate of counter-trafficking. She is in Timor-Leste this week to raise awareness on safe mobility & cross border issues. Our Chief of Mission Ihma Shareef was honoured to meet her.
Recognizing that access to healthcare is not a privilege but a fundamental right, IOM remains committed to serving the communities in hard-to-reach areas, conducting tuberculosis screening and raising awareness.

'Every day calls for action against human trafficking—not just on #TraffickingDay . Together with United Nations, Timor-Leste works hard to combat this crime. Yet more is needed to support survivors & prosecute perpetrators.' - UN RC Funmi Balogun Funmi Balogun
