All ready for play dough monsters! My daughter made a sample one.

My next goal with the sensory boxes and Kinder activities is to create a notebook w/a tab for each child so any adult who works with them can write down what they did and what skills/words/concepts etc they demonstrated. Then classroom Ts can also access what we’ve worked on.

Next week 1st graders will make play dough monsters. Then they’ll write about their monster using color, number, descriptive, and character trait adjectives. Finally, they will read their monster description to a partner who will draw it based on what they hear.

These little cans are so engaging for my emerging Kinders. Today we sorted picture cards by first sound. They love feeding them and we make them say thank you in silly voices too. I am loving the smiles and success I’m seeing!

Great idea! I’d love to have Ss do this before conferences in a few weeks. Maybe somehow tied to our opinion writing.

Interesting. I have wondered about this and it’s addressed in their training as “lightening the cognitive load”

As someone with 🦻🏻🦻🏻I can’t always distinguish ending sounds and wish there was context or visuals. I want this for my Ss learning English.

Got some of these from Target (actually $1 in the Dollar Spot) and my 3rd graders showed a lot of interest in them. So, got some more. Maybe we will do a day of making something then writing about it.

One of my professional goals this year is around writing in 3rd grade. I have to say what resources I need on the form so I thought it would be a good time to get this. This is the book that goes with the course I tried to register for that charged my card over $16,000.

Chart times 4. We made a similar chart this week about plants and will do another about pumpkins next week to review/reinforce vocabulary. We will also add: “I can ____ a pumpkin” at the bottom to access some student experiences.
