Our morning lessons this week have been v much fun revision type games to do some last recap and to eke in a bit of test technique, and this morning one child asked 'hmmm why aren't lessons normally this fun when there isn't a super boring yet important test coming up?'

Second revision activity today, a new one on me via Rob Crossley - BLOOKET. Can't believe I've never used it before: Kahoot on steroids (and not rubbish). Complete overlearning, fast paced, competitive, totally even playing field, free and easy to set up. Kids were mad for it.

Ashley Booth We do something similar, call it the dice game. Key vocab to be learned on display. Choose a word, roll the dice, partner has to guess what word you’ve chosen.

Roll 1/4, act the word out.
Roll 2/5, draw a picture showing it.
Roll 3/6, define it.

Played a revision game I saw on FB in class today. Put kids in groups of 4 or 5, gave them a section of test paper and then made one of them a traitor. Overall aim was to get the most correct answers, but the traitors aim was for their team to get the lowest. It was insanely fun.

It’s hot outside so cold noodle season begins. Udon, tinned mackerel; chilli, ginger, star anise crisped in the mackerel oil, which then gets soy, honey and a bit of sesame oil. Cucumber quick pickled in maldon & lime juice. Spring onion and the crispy bits back on top. Perfect.

Doing 'Fact Sheet: About Bumblebees' from the 2019 reading paper with Y6 today, and always thought it was absolutely wild that question 26 was 'give an example of humour in the text' and an acceptable answer was 'it calls bees fat'. What?!

Almost certainly going to fit another class novel in before the end of the year with my lovely, book obsessed Year 6. A lovely position to find myself in, but good lord is it hard to choose.
