Canadian gov plans 'new asylum rules to allow for faster deportations', while data from on the RefugeeLawLab portal shows an 80% refugee recognition rate in 2023 (before appeals, judicial reviews, PRRAs, H&Cs, etc).

In my view, as someone involved in research admin, it violates SSHRC policies
But beyond that, it's just unnecessarily cruel to students who rely on RA income
