Michele Alboreto, Ferrari 126C4, dominated the final Belgian GP to be held at the Zolder circuit. Derek Warwick finished a career-best 2nd in his Renault RE50. René Arnoux, Ferrari 126C4, set the fastest lap on the way to 3rd place.

Patrick Depailler drove his Ligier-Ford-JS11 to victory in the Spanish Grand Prix at Jarama. This was the Frenchman's second & final GP win. Carlos Reutemann finished 2nd in a Lotus-Ford-79. Mario Andretti was 3rd in the new Lotus-Ford-80.
